No phone or fax entries are accepted.
Only one participant is allowed per entry form.
Re-assignment or name changes of entries are not permitted.
The Waiver and Release of Liability MUST be signed in order to process your entry.
Participants must maintain a 15:00/mile pace for the Full Marathon and 17:00/mile pace for the 1/2 Marathon or they will be asked to retire from the event (or switch to a shorter distance event at the appropriate split). Due to safety considerations and road closure permits, the enforcement of the time limit must be strictly adhered to. Please make sure that you are able to maintain this pace for your chosen event. In addition, there will be an 10 minute “grace period” to allow everyone to cross the starting line. To ensure the safety of all participants, any participant not maintaining this pace will be asked to retire from the event and will be taken back to the race site on an event vehicle.
How is my run timed?
All SIC events will be timed using the electronic Timing Tag adhered to your race number, and enclosed in your race packet. YOU MUST WEAR YOUR RACE NUMBER ON YOUR FRONT TO GET TIMED AND SCORED! You also must wear your bib number visibly on the front of your body, for security reasons. Please make certain the information on your bib is correct before leaving packet pickup.
Instantaneous Results will be available to participants directly after the race! Go to our Results and Awards tent to receive your results printout including split times and age group / overall place. No more waiting around for the results to be posted! This service has been provided the past two years and we have received wonderful feedback on it, so ENJOY!
What are the awards? If I qualify for an award when will I receive it?
All SIC Marathon and 1/2 Marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s medal, with a special edition neck band for those whose SIC finish time qualifies them for the Boston Marathon (within the Results Tent). All SIC Marathon, 1/2 Marathon and 8k finishers will be eligible for age group awards. Winter Melt Down Series finishers will receive a special edition medal, in addition to being eligible for Series age group awards.
Award Ceremonies are scheduled as follows: 10:15am 8k, 11:15am 1/2 Marathon, and 12:15pm Marathon
Should you win an award at and not be able to pick it up at the Awards Ceremony, feel free to stop by the Results Tent within the SIC SLAM festival and explain your circumstances to SIC Race Officials. In most cases, awards are able to be released prior to the official ceremony.
When can I pick up my packet?
If you chose to receive your packet via mail you can expect it in the week leading up to the event (no later than three days prior to the event). If you have chosen to pick up your packet on site, you can pick it up the day before the event at the Holiday Inn Airport beginning from 11 am to 1 pm and later from 4 pm to 8 pm. You can also pick up your packet the day of the event beginning at 5 am at the SIC SLAM entrance. We encourage you to pick up your packet as early as possible due to the large number of participants.
How can I get to the event?
Directions to the event site can be found on our webpage under the SIC Prep Tab: Directions and Hotels. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn (Airport) a shuttle will be available to and from the event.
Where can I stay?
SIC has partnered with area hotels to offer Southern Indiana Classic participants special rates. Reservations for these hotels can be made through our online reservation system located under the SIC Prep Tab: Directions and Hotels.
The closest hotel to the event is the Holiday Inn Airport. While it is not within walking distance shuttle service will be provided by the Holiday Inn to and from the event site. Also, a “Evening Before” dinner will be provided for the guests of the hotel the evening before the event (available to participants not staying at the Holiday Inn for $16.50 per person).
My whole family is coming but I’m the only one participating, will there be something for them to do while I’m running?
While your family and friends wait for you to finish the race, there will be activities for all ages from bouncy houses for the kids to a bierstube for the over 21 spectators. SIC is contacting Non-Profit venders to provide food booths for this “All Day Festival” on April 6, 2013. These activities will accompany the schedule of events that surround the Southern Indiana Classic Marathon, 1/2 Marathon and 8k at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center. Saturday April 6, 7:30am- 2:45pm, the entire community is invited to join the participants and spectators in celebrating one of Evansville’s Premier events. Live entertainment, Budweiser and Michelob Ultra bierstubes, food and drink booths, 5 huge bouncy houses for the kids, and dozens of attractions. Joining us for festivities is free but please say thank you to all the runners and sponsors who make this possible by cheering them at the finish line. The past three years of the SIC, we have had more than 10,000 fans, participants, and tri-state residents join us at the 4H Fairgrounds. This “party in the park” has been reviewed as one of the largest in the country, in association with a marathon, and is quickly becoming a major reason for participants to choose the SIC as their spring endurance event.
What is the schedule for the day of the event?
5am-2:30pm — Bag Check
5am-6:20am — Late Registration/Packet Pickup (Vanderburgh County 4-H Center, at the SIC SLAM entrance)

What’s the “Evening Before” dinner?
The “Evening Before” dinner is a carb-loading feast to prep your body for the endurance test it will face the next day. The menu will be a pasta buffet featuring Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, and Rigatoni with Marinara Sauce, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Dinner will be available from 6 pm to 10 pm.
The “Evening Before” dinner sounds great but I’m not staying at the Holiday Inn, where can I sign up for it?
